What are we?<\/h4>\n

Health Care Information Technologies for Africa e.V. (HITA e.V.) is an association of experts from the fields of education, development cooperation, healthcare, business administration, management and information technologies, who all work on a voluntary basis.<\/p>\n

What do we want?<\/h4>\n

The goal of HITA e.V. is the sustainable improvement of health care and education, especially for girls in rural areas of Africa. As a non-profit, non-governmental organization, HITA e.V.’s vision is to use eHealth and mHealth technologies to help optimize the professional education and training of non-medical staff. HITA e.V. has been implementing educational projects in schools, vocational schools, colleges and universities as well as telemedicine and infrastructure projects for the health and education sector since 2009. The current focus is on rural areas of Ghana.
In addition to the education and infrastructure projects, the association has increasingly devoted itself to supporting medical facilities in recent years. This assistance includes, for example, the establishment of smaller networks in small and micro hospitals, organizational advice (for example on documentation, organizational or hygiene issues), or the optimal placement of hospital furniture (hospital beds) or medical equipment.<\/p>\n

What have we already achieved?<\/h4>\n

HITA e.V. has set up computer labs in over 40 training centers for nurses and midwives and other educational institutions in Ghana. Teachers and students have been enabled to use, maintain and expand these independently. A particular success is the inclusion of these activities in the training curricula for nurses and midwives. Modern eLearning elements are now a natural part of these educational institutions. The use of modern information and communication technologies is particularly important as there is a shortage of printed teaching and learning materials, both at school and, above all, in the trainees’ private lives.
The non-profit association is proud that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been founded as a result of and on the basis of our training measures in the IT sector. These are now able to independently maintain and expand the IT infrastructure of the schools previously supported by HITA e.V. for a fee.<\/p>\n

What is particularly important to us?<\/h4>\n

All HITA e.V. projects focus on the local partners! To ensure sustainable success, HITA e.V. is supported by experts in Ghana and Germany and cooperates primarily with local partners. All of the association’s activities are aimed at \u201cenabling\u201d and \u201cempowering\u201d. HITA e.V. is convinced that this is the only way to achieve its goals sustainably and secure them in the long term.<\/p>\n

What are our success factors?<\/h4>\n

The thirst for knowledge of the pupils, teachers and nursing staff on site, the good networking of the active association members, strong partners and sponsors, an interdisciplinary team of experts, the direct involvement of many Ghanaian institutions and authorities and the very focused projects are success factors and guarantors for the best possible and sustainable use of all project funds and donations.<\/p>\n

What is the concept of HITA e.V.?<\/h4>\n

We can only achieve anything on the ground together with our partners. Only they know the local situation and particularities. That is why it is important to us to support our partners in the best possible way by enabling them to implement our jointly defined goals in a sustainable manner.
The purpose of our association is the ideational and financial promotion, development, support and implementation of social projects, especially in rural areas of Africa. This includes supporting medical facilities such as hospitals or health stations, training centers and schools of all kinds, women’s and girls’ projects in rural communities, kindergartens or educational projects with the aim of promoting community development.<\/p>\n
