1Bed4All (II) Status Report II

A total of 12 employees from the three Vincenz Kliniken in Salzkotten and Paderborn, from Hartmann International under the direction of Julian Hainer and association members of Healthcare Information Technology for Africa e.V. (HITA e.V.) packed 120 hospital beds donated by the Vincenz Kliniken into 2 containers ready for sea on the 2nd Saturday of Advent.
Container loading
In 3 teams worked in parallel to load the two containers. One team was responsible for transporting the beds from the three clinics to the interim storage facility at Hartmann International, and one team prepared the beds so that they could be loaded into the containers in stacks of 5. The third team was responsible for the actual loading of the containers. Only in this way was it possible to reach the goal of making two containers, each with 60 beds, ready for sea in 6 hours.

The delivery of several hundred hospital beds is intended to counteract the shortage of beds in Ghanaian hospitals and health posts. Together with the Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre, Sunyani, Ghana, West Africa, HITA e.V., St. Vincenz Kliniken and Hartmann International in Paderborn, several hundred hospital beds are to be shipped to Ghana, where they will be distributed to various recipients. Of crucial importance to the project team is that the beds are not only delivered to Ghana, but that a sustainable concept is established that ensures the beds are used as intended over a long period of time. Accompanying actions will be carried out, all with the aim of ensuring that staff are sustainably "empowered and engaged" (enabled) to carry out these tasks independently in the future and sustainably in the long term. The important thing now is to raise enough funds to ship the containers to Ghana. Due to the global crisis, transport prices have really exploded, so that we urgently need additional donations . are dependent on. If you still need additional information about the project or have ideas on how to generate additional project funds, please contact the project manager Thomas Erkert thomas.erkert@hita-ev.org.
