1Bed4All (II) Status Report III
Together with Jill Hofmann, Hendrik Lüdeking, Andre Schulze and Julian Hainer from Hartmann International, we from Healthcare Information Technology for Africa e.V. (HITA e.V.) packed a third container with another 60 beds on December 9, 2022. We can now ship a total of 180 complete hospital beds to Ghana. Many thanks to all involved for the terrific support!
It's done! We loaded another 60 donated hospital beds!
Project Background:
The delivery of several hundred hospital beds is intended to counteract the shortage of beds in Ghanaian hospitals and health posts. Together with the Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre, Sunyani, Ghana, West Africa, HITA e.V., St. Vincenz Kliniken and Hartmann International in Paderborn, several hundred hospital beds are to be shipped to Ghana, where they will be distributed to various recipients.
The cargo consisting of 60 beds with accessories, bed extensions and 8 pairs of fall protection devices has been properly secured thanks to the experts from Hartmann International and can now be cleared through customs.
Of crucial importance to the project team is that the beds are not only delivered to Ghana, but that a sustainable concept is established that ensures the beds are used as intended over a long period of time. Accompanying actions will be carried out, all with the aim of ensuring that staff are sustainably "empowered and engaged" (enabled) to carry out these tasks independently in the future and sustainably in the long term.
Due to the global crisis, transport prices have really exploded, so that we urgently need additional donations . are dependent. Please support us so that we can send the containers on their way as soon as possible.
