November 18, 2025 – An Evening Filled with Warmth, Insight and Gratitude: The 1st HITA Benefit Evening – “Shared Happiness Is Doubled Happiness”

Frankfurt am Main, 18 November 2025. With an overwhelming response, the 1st HITA Benefit Evening took place on 18 November at the Henri-Dunant School in Frankfurt am Main. Under the motto “Shared happiness is doubled happiness”, more than 80 supporters, volunteers, donors, sponsors, members, and friends of our association came together – both on site and digitally connected from Ghana. Together, we celebrated the commitment that has shaped the work of HITA e.V. for nearly 15 years.

An evening full of connections, music, and insights

The well-known artist and presenter Sabine Fischmann opened the evening with a musical performance, accompanied by Ali Neander on guitar. “We are a small association with a big heart,” she said as she introduced the informational part of the event. Afterwards, Thomas Erkert and Daniel Gerlach from the HITA board presented a wide range of HITA projects. The third member of the board, Hildegard Mackert, greeted the guests with a video message from Berlin.

Sabine Fischmann (recipient of the Goethe Plaque of the City of Frankfurt) and Ali Neander (Rodgau Monotones) created truly moving moments with their musical and artistic contributions – all entirely voluntary and without any fee. The two-hour program offered inspiring impulses and powerful insights into HITA’s work in our focus region of Ghana. The presentations and video messages from our project partners in Ho and Sunyani received particularly strong resonance, vividly illustrating how donations and volunteer commitment make a tangible impact on the ground.

Over the past years, we have been able to implement more than 50 projects across our six program areas – all made possible entirely through volunteer commitment as well as donated equipment and financial support. At nearly 50 schools, training centers, and universities, we have set up more than 50 PC training labs and established sustainable local solutions for maintenance and operation. A special highlight of the evening was our “tombola”: our partner organizations in Ghana had handcrafted beautiful items – quite literally little treasures – which we were delighted to present to the lucky recipients after the stage program.

Premiere: The New HITA Film “We Want You!”

Appreciation for Volunteers and Partnerships

The evening was also marked by gratitude: Numerous volunteers prepared delicious dishes for the buffet, set up the venue, managed the live stream, and organized the event, making the benefit evening possible in the first place. Particularly impressive was the presentation of two donations of €1,500 each from Zimmermann Light Solutions, Oberursel, and iDiaz, Bad Mergentheim. “Let’s send some light to Ghana with this,” said Barbara Zimmermann, Managing Director of Zimmermann Light Solutions.

Our school partnership with the Carlo-Mierendorff School in Frankfurt, which we report on regularly, was also recognized. We are particularly grateful for the donations totaling more than €1,200, which came from a student project and a Christmas campaign.

The event was made possible almost entirely through private contributions and volunteer work – a strong testament to how deeply HITA is rooted in the community. This ensures that financial donations can benefit the projects almost entirely. The evening had a warm, family-like, and connected atmosphere.

One of HITA’s greatest priorities is to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who make our work possible: our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, donors, helpers, friends, and members!
Press representatives were also present and enthusiastic. Here is the report by Katharina Schwäble, published on November 20, 2025, in the Frankfurter Neue Presse.

Donations enable the expansion of key projects

Thanks to the generous donations, several of HITA’s flagship projects can be further expanded, including:

  • HITA PC Labs for the promotion of digital education
  • SanitaryPads4Women – for the production of reusable sanitary pads in schools
  • WhatsApp4PregnantWomenAndYoungMothers – digital support for pregnant women and young mothers

An Evening That Connects

“This evening once again showed us what is possible when people come together – even across continents,” said Thomas Erkert, Chairman of HITA e.V. “We thank Sabine Fischmann and Ali Neander, all supporters, volunteers, donors, and especially the helpers who made this evening possible. Representing all helpers, we would like to mention Anne Maertins, who organized the evening, and Caro Franz. Despite moving house, Caro, like Anne, worked tirelessly to ensure the evening was such a great success. For the entire HITA team, it was truly a moment of joy.”
