Working trip to Ho - Report
TRAVEL REPORT BY KARSTEN GAREIS: This time's HITA delegation traveled in two waves: Thomas (HITA board chairman) and Daniel (HITA board member since youngest) arrived with the two teachers from Frankfurt's Carlo Mierendorff School, Petra and Rachida, already on December 27. Karsten (also a member of the HITA board) and the two technicians Leonhard and Johannes will follow on January 1.
The main objective of the trip is to review and - where necessary - repair the eLearning infrastructure that HITA has been operating with local partners at the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM), part of the University of Health and Applied Sciences (UHAS), in Ho (Volta Region) since 2018. In addition, the number of computer workstations in the eLearning labs of this training facility for nurses and midwives will be further expanded. In discussions with the teaching staff and the project management, it is also necessary to determine what experience has been gained with the integration of eLearning and mLearning in everyday training. Based on the results, Thomas, Daniel and Karsten want to plan further action with the partner institutions in Ho to ensure a sustainable improvement of nurse and midwife education in this part of Ghana. The third project is to hand over donated school utensils, computers and hospital equipment to the people of the Adaklu district. HITA Board Chairman Thomas had been appointed "Development Chief" of Adaklu in 2018; now we have teamed up with the traditional chief of the area, Togbe Lablulu, and a group of local development workers to tackle the next relief efforts.
