Filled container in the direction of Ghana!
In addition to the 5 hospitals that we are able to equip with medical equipment, medicines, measuring instruments, furniture and furnishings in the Volta region, we have packed 2 complete computer labs with more than 80 PCs, 20 laptops for teachers and tutors, several networks for schools and hospitals and, above all, the first campus W-LAN for West Africa. In addition, we have several servers in the bag, which will allow us to build the first "Electronic Library". We are glad to finally be able to implement this idea, where students can access educational materials via cell phones. A very big thank you also goes to the strong hands of the two helpers Benedikt Seidl and Wael, without whom the packing action would not have worked.
Please keep your fingers crossed that everything will arrive well and in time at the port of Tema in Accra. From there, the container is transported by truck by our partner organization, the "Chances Foundation", to the east of Ghana, to Ho in the Volta region. From the 22nd of March 5 members of the association will travel to Ho for 2 weeks to supervise the distribution of the relief supplies and to coordinate the construction of the computer labs and the networks. In the spirit of empowerment, our IT specialists will train their colleagues on site. In addition, during this time we conduct trainings for tutors and students to enable them to deal with our offers even after our departure.
Thank you very much for your help! Thomas Erkert, Daniel Schleßmann and Günther Michels Board of Healthcare Information Technolgy for Africa, e.V., www.hita-ev.org
